Catherine Snyder
Presbyterian Campus Minister at Cooper House
Catherine is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is grateful for her home church's ministry which nurtured and strengthened her faith. She received her B.A. in religion from Duke University, and her love of biblical studies was part of the reason she went on to Princeton Theological Seminary, where she received her M.Div. degree.
After her ordination in 1978, she served as chaplain to Mary Baldwin College, where she also taught religion courses to traditional students and to students in the Adult Degree program. Her second call was to be associate minister of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, with a portion of her job description devoted to a congregationally-based higher education ministry. She has served as Presbyterian Campus Minister at Virginia Tech since 1995. Because her faith was challenged, deepened, and broadened during her own college years, she is very appreciative of our denomination's long-standing commitment to higher education ministries.
As campus minister, Catherine enjoys her work with students, faculty, staff, and their families, as well as with members of our four covenant partner churches who are involved with the ministry at Cooper House.
