Children's Christian Education
Children's Sunday School
We are blessed to have warm wonderful Sunday School Teachers for our children. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 10:45 a.m. A snack is usually offered during the time together. Our teachers are interested in getting to know each child and seek to encourage each child to feel at home, to ask questions, and to grow in their knowledge and love of God.
Nursery and Extended Session
Sarah Woolsey is our Nursery and Extended Session Coordinator. She arranges for qualified childcare providers and also serves as an additional nursery helper every week. All of the paid workers are students at Virginia Tech and work in the Child Development Lab School.

Younger Elementary, K, 1st, and 2nd graders - Fall: Ginger Evans, Sarah Woolsey, and Clare Dannenberg. Jama Hayes will substitute.
Older Elementary, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders - Janet Rakes, John Dillard, and Dave Dannenberg will substitute.
Way Cool Wednesdays
This is a weekly program for children Kindergarten through 5th grade. We have Bible study classes, using the Logos curriculum, choir time with Mary Harder and Mary Lee Hendricks, games, crafts, and then dinner together with our assigned Dinner Parents who work on our manners and share life together in Table Families. Each parent of a participating child is given an important job to do as we all work together to make this ministry to our children possible.
Youth Ministry
The goal of Youth Ministry at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church is to nurture our young people in their journey of faith as they develop a life long relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. To do this, we provide opportunities for:
- Studying the Bible and its relationship to our lives and the world.
- Participating in mission and outreach.
- Enjoying fellowship with each other and the church family.
- Understanding peace and justice as Jesus calls us into the world.
- Sharing open discussions of the life issues facing our youth.
- Experiencing the power of prayer.
As our youth question and grow in faith, we are committed to accept and value each young person as an individual and to provide loving care for all youth.
Youth Sunday School: Fall 2007
The Senior Highs will meet with Jack Call and Brenda Roberts for an exciting survey of the Bible. The Mid Highs will meet to enjoy a stimulating class led by Mac McCord and Austin Banks.
Youth Sunday Night Fellowship
All youth grades 6 - 12 are invited and encouraged to come to our weekly youth programs. The more times a youth attends, the more opportunities they have to make friends and create a fellowship group.
Our Youth are led by our elected Youth Council which meets monthly to decide the direction for programs and mission projects. We have wonderful adults who provide help, support, and supervision. Senior and Mid High Advisors are Mac McCord, Colleen Drumheller, Russell Drumheller, and our Youth Advocate is Matt Drumheller.
