Adult Education
Adult Sunday School
Each quarter, BPC offers different opportunities for adults to grow in faith during the Sunday School hour. See descriptions of our current class offerings.
Smyth Lecture Series
Every two years Blacksburg Presbyterian is blessed to have the opportunity to bring a world renowned theologian for a lecture series endowed by the Smyth family. The series usually includes two lectures at the church, preaching on Sunday morning, and sometimes a lecture on the Virginia Tech campus as well. Past speakers have included Sir John Polkinghorn, Dr. Martin Marty, Dr. Roberta Bondi, Dr. Walter Brueggemann, Dr. Marcus Borg, and others. We look forward to hosting another series again in 2011.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Everyone is invited to join the Tuesday Morning Bible Study, a continuing group that digs deep into scripture, its historical context, and how it applies to our lives today. This study follows the lectionary cycle and challenges us to live out scripture in our lives. In preparation for the class each week, participants will read the scripture lessons. Susan Verbrugge will lead the discussions. We will meet together weekly on Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m. (yes, that does say a.m.) for one hour in Hatcher Conference Room. Start your day off in scripture. Coffee is provided.
Tuesday Morning Prayer Group
As God’s children, we are called to be people of prayer. Prayer nurtures our relationship with God and draws us together in love and support. On Tuesday mornings at 10:00, a group meets in the prayer room to study the Bible together and to pray for people in our church and in the world. This group gathers prayer requests from the congregation and also prays for people and situations around the world. All are welcome to be a part of this time of prayer together.
