Good News Partners
This action group works closely with an inner city program in Chicago sending our people (young and young at heart) there in the summer to work and in turn welcoming youth and staff from Chicago when they visit us in Blacksburg.
Mark your calendars for the weekend of June 25-27th when once more, since 1991, BPC will be welcoming our mission partners from Good News Partners–ages 8 to 64. You can help. We need hosting for kids and adults. GNP will come here after a week of camping in Tennessee. Clothes often need to be washed and how glad they are to sleep in a bed again. Here is the schedule:
Friday:
- 5 p.m, Swim at Piedmont Pool at end of Grissom Lane
- 7 p.m, Picnic at Shelter #2, Blacksburg Park
Saturday:
- 11 a.m, Meet to go tubing (ONLY time host family has to provide something to share at picnic lunch on the river)
- 4:30 p.m, Duck Pond Picnic
- 7:00 p.m, Swim at Blacksburg Town Pool
Sunday:
- 9:45 a.m, Meet at church for worship and farewell
Hosts do not have to participate in any events but are encouraged to come to picnic Friday 7 p.m. to connect with our Good News Partners. (Of course, coming to Piedmont Pool for relaxation and swimming is FUN!)
This weekend means SOOOO much to all who come from Chicago. They experience LOVE, PEACE, QUIET, and FUN! And, what it means to host families over the years is truly special!! Many have done it each year since 1991!
