Outreach Coordinating Team
When 3 events are scheduled for the same time after church and there are 2 or 3 different collections happening in the hallways at the same time, some coordination is needed! The Outreach Coordinating Team was begun in 2003 to encourage coordination and collaboration among the many BPC groups and committees doing mission/outreach work. The chairpersons of all of these groups and committees plus 2 or 3 at large members and the 2 pastors, serve on OCT. We meet monthly during the academic year and anyone is welcome to attend. We feel that we have made great progress with more groups working together on projects and the development of interest in the Malawi efforts and in the Valley Interfaith Child Care Center. About 6 months after OCT was created, the Endowment Committee came to us with a request. They felt that our members were closest to the church’s outreach efforts and asked that we annually receive proposals for Endowment Funds and prioritize them. A process has evolved and decisions are passed on to the Endowment Committee. They make all final decisions which they then take to Session for approval.
