Valley Interfaith Child Care Center (VICCC)
The Valley Interfaith Child Care Center seeks to create affordable high-quality child care centers for the very young (ages 0-3 years) children of qualified low-income working families in the New River Valley, Virginia area. Their work is done in cooperation with local government, local social service agencies and with the special support of the faith communities of the New River Valley of Virginia. VICCC opened a center for about 14 children (16 months to 3 years of age) in the Head Start Center in Christiansburg, Virginia in early 2006.
Blacksburg Presbyterian Church has been involved in this childcare center from its inception. Members have participated on the start up committee and are currently members of the Board of Directors and various committees of the center. Substantial amounts of money have been given from this church’s endowment funds to get the centers up and running in Blacksburg and Christiansburg. Volunteers have also helped to clean, paint, and make small repairs to the centers during our Service Sundays.
