Worship
The center of our common life is the regular worship of God. It is the place where we are renewed in our service to God. We gather together each Sunday morning to praise and worship, to sing, to pray, to confess, to affirm our faith, and to listen to the Word spoken and preached. At the end of our bulletin, we include the words “Community Worship Ends, Discipleship and Service Begin Again”. Worship invigorates and renews us to continue as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Communion
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 “The Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
We celebrate communion together on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions together. We eat the bread and drink the cup and remember Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. We eat and drink to celebrate Christ’s living presence among us. And we eat and drink because we know that God fills us to go into the world to love and serve.
Baptism
As Presbyterians, we celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism with infants and their families and with adults. Baptism reminds us that God’s grace is with us always. In baptism, we receive the promise of God’s love. This promise enables us to grown in faith, finding new life in Jesus Christ. Through baptism, we become members of God’s family, the church. The sacrament calls us to a life of Christian service in the world.
Children's Worship
Children are a very important part of our life together as a church. During each worship service, we have a time that we call the Children’s Message in which the children come forward in the sanctuary for a time that is just for them. They gather on the front steps to learn a bit more about what it means to be followers of Jesus Christ. And, more often than not, they teach the adults something about faith during those times.
After the Children’s Message, children from kindergarten through 2nd grade go to Children’s Worship. This is a time designed just for them, taught by congregation members. They learn about different parts of worship and why they are important in our worship together. They also study different stories from scripture. During this time, they gain valuable insight into their faith and make new friends as well.
